I found this guy strutting around near the dam of the Turtle Flambeau Flowage in Iron County Wisconsin.  I think he was a bit confused since he kept up this up even though his only audience was my truck.

Another trip up to northern Wisconsin.  They had a very nice warm spell, most of the snow melted and the air smelled like October.  I took all of these shots in one afternoon.

I don’t take many photos in Winter.  I suppose I should, but having lived in Wisconsin most of my life.
I probably don’t appreciate the beauty of Winter as much as I should.   I took this shot from the window of our motel room in Oshkosh looking across the airport runway.

I finally had some time to work on some of my photos from last summer.  Here are a few of my favorites.  I find sometimes it helps to not look at the lot of them for awhile, when you come back you have a whole new perspective.

Spent a little time up in Butternut, Wisconsin over the holiday weekend.  Took some pictures from the window of the house we rent when we are there.  It was cold and snowy and only the chickadees were venturing out.  Caught this little guy on the bird feeder.  It is a challenge photographing these nervous little critters, the never stop moving.  I shot one good shot and another which I thought was funny because everything is moving.

Just finished editing my Wyalusing State Park photos.  Click on each photo for a larger view.  I have reduced these in size greatly.  The originals are high resolution and suitable for large format printing and framing.  If interested in purchasing any of these photos please contact me at webmaster@greenbeetlephoto.com.  I use a high quality processing service which can produce archive quality prints.

I just purchased an Olympus Zuiko 70-300mm f/4.0-5.6 ED Lens.  This is definitely in the lower to middle end for Olympus four-thirds lenses but the reviews were good and the price was right.  I was not disappointed.  After a chilly trip to Wyalusing State Park on the border between Wisconsin and Iowa overlooking the confluence of the Wisconsin and Mississipi rivers I am a fan.  First a few of my shots from this weekend and then a little more about this lens.

Fall colors in the fog

Damp cold morning but the fog was amazing.  It will take me half the winter to finish processing the shots I took.  I’ll be posting more of these later.

As cold as it was it was amazing this guy was sunning himself.  They are only found in the extreme southwest corner of Wisconsin so I was lucky to see him.  I took this at about 4 feet at full 300mm zoom hand-held, so that tells you something about this lens.  With my 50mm macro I would have been right next to his face.  Not venomous but still not a good place to be…

The colors here were just amazing.  The fog reduces the background into an oil painting.

The asters are blooming here in southern Wisconsin.  The later rains made for some spectacular colors and an amazing number of blooms.
